22nd Anniversary of 9/11
A Letter from our Executive Director
This is an important moment to remember that day and those who are no longer with us. We honor the guardians who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service of others.
We pay tribute to all the people we lost the day of the attacks;
the guardians who responded that day and didn't return home to their families;
the guardians who spent months working recovery operations, and those who now suffer from physical health issues;
the guardians who served & continue to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces;
the guardians who survived but battle mental health challenges;
and the guardians we've lost to suicide as a result of war, terrorism, survivor's syndrome, and the perils of the job.
We will never forget.
Please take a moment to watch this video sequence about 9/11 from an upcoming mini-documentary highlighting our Boots & Paws program.
We also look back at 9/11 and appreciate the way people banded together to support one another through the immediate crisis and decades that have followed.
That side shows us the best of humanity — the way we fight to save & protect each other, when we forget our differences and focus on what we share, and when we remember that each of us is valued & loved.
Today, and every day, we're proud to be Americans and to be guardians.
Thank you,
Alex Othmer
