10th Annual Veterans Chow Down [Halston Media News]
The Halston Media News reported on our 10th Annual Veterans Chow Down, hosted on November 10, 2024.
Each year, we are honored to organize and host an appreciation dinner for veterans & their guests, with over 150 joining us for our 10th annual dinner.
CARMEL, N.Y. — On Sunday, Nov. 10, County Executive Kevin Byrne and Deputy County Executive Jim Burpoe, a U.S Army veteran, were among over 70 volunteers supporting Guardian Revival’s 10th annual Veterans Chow Down. The appreciation dinner honored over 150 Veterans, each of whom brought at least one guest.
The event featured a “military history and memorabilia museum” provided by the Benedict Family from The Duffle Bag in Patterson. The majority of meals were served by groups of youth volunteers including the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets Corps, Iwo Jima (LHD 7) Division, and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Cadets.
"We owe an immeasurable debt to the brave men and women who served our nation, a debt we can never fully repay—but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try," said County Executive Kevin Byrne. "Giving back, whether through a free meal, volunteering, or simple acts of kindness, can have a profound impact. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, to the generous sponsors who made this event possible, and to the incredible volunteers who dedicated their time to honor and support our veterans."
Byrne also played the bagpipes, as he did at the inaugural Chow Down in 2014.
