One Mile Challenge 2022 Recap
We recently finished our One Mile Challenge, and we wanted to share back a recap of what what we all did that month.
Thank you to the participants who showed up for yourselves, the guardians we've lost, and those still with us. Thank you all for supporting us and helping us help others. It truly makes a difference, and we appreciate it.
If you want to be more involved with us, help fundraise, or are an athlete (at any level!) & want to become a Guardian Champion, just say hello@guardianrevival.org to get more information.
What you did
The amazing thing about challenges & events like this is seeing both what one individual can accomplish and how much we can achieve collectively.
The goals of the One Mile Challenge were to raise awareness of mental health challenges (and that they can affect anyone) and to raise funds to support our programs here at Guardian Revival.
Each of you — and all of you together — helped us to achieve those goals.

What We Did
We're excited to share some highlights that we achieved across our programs at Guardian Revival during October — and to give you a sense of what the donations from the One Mile challenge will help us do in the future.
Boots & Paws
Boots & Paws is our canine program, which provides companion & service dogs to guardians in need.
A growing body of evidence supports the powerful therapeutic effects of animal ownership, and we've seen firsthand the benefits of purpose & passion that a dog offers their owners.
This October, we awarded 4 companion dogs — each dog comes with a care package of professional training sessions, veterinary coverage, pet insurance, food, toys, leashes, and other essential care equipment for up to a year. We also conducted a combined total of 550 hours of service dog training.
Another Summit
Another Summit is our outdoor adventure program, which provides guardians and community members with the foundation for a healthy, purposeful life through structured outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, and paddling adventures in the Hudson Valley Region of New York.
We led 13 hikes in October with 54 participants — our hikes are free & open to the public to join (guardians, families, and the broader community), and we’d love for you to join us!
Thank you ALL for your support — each person who participated has made a difference: for your own life, for the guardians who see us all showing up for them, and through the funds raised to help our organization & the guardians we serve.
Encore
Encore is our music program, which provides guardians with opportunities — individually, together, and with the broader community — to learn, write, play, record, and share music through three avenues: Guardian Jams, Guardian Tracks, and Guardian Retreats.
In October, we recorded 16 tracks and held 4 jam sessions &1community jam. (And within the next few months, we will establish Guardian Encore as its own music label and will release songs & albums across streaming platforms!) Follow along on our Encore Instagram.
Our Work Continues
We know that millions of our guardians are struggling with their mental health.
So we will continue to train & award companion & service dogs, lead hikes & adventure retreats, and organize jam sessions & release music — all designed to revive and preserve the mental health and well-being of veterans and first responders at no cost to them.
You can help us make it happen
If you want to continue helping us help our guardians, we'd love to have you!
One way is to set up a personal GR fundraising page that you can share & help us continue to receive donations to support our programs. (It's easy — we set it up for you!)
If you're an athlete — professionally or recreationally, from marathon runners to cyclists to MMA fighters — then you can become a Guardian Champion.
Or say hello@guardianrevival.org to get more information. 📬 We can't wait to hear from you!
Thank you for making a difference!
