A veteran herself, Janel teaches yoga with the aim of training the mind, body, and spirit to heal.

Yoga has been shown to offer improvements for depression, sleep, and life satisfaction. Explore & experience the benefits of yoga with Janel — increased flexibility, muscle strength & tone, a balanced metabolism, and improved cardio & circulatory health.

Join our next yoga session with Janel to help relax & strengthen both your body & mind.

  • WHO: Guardians and friends / family welcome (adults)

  • WHEN: Tuesday, April 22 @ 7 - 8 PM ET

  • WHERE: Zoom

  • Note:

    • Participate with your camera on or off

    • Wear comfortable clothing for movement

    • No prior experience with yoga necessary!

  • Props:

    • Space to stretch & move

    • Yoga or exercise mat

    • Yoga blocks, if available

    • Blanket or towel for padding as needed

About Your Instructor

Janel Norton is an O2X Yoga & iRest Specialist and co-founded the Veterans Alternative, a non-profit organization designed to serve veterans experiencing trauma incurred while serving in the military by training the mind, body, and spirit to heal after returning home from military service.

Janel is also a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force as a combat photojournalist. She was also a press information officer and photojournalist for the United Nations, spending her early career documenting crises in Panama, Bosnia, and Liberia.

After 20 years as a photographer, Janel returned to school for her master’s degree from the University of South Florida. Facing a difficult job market upon graduating and discovering how yoga helped her maintain balance, she enrolled in a yoga teacher training program. Janel credits the leadership and work ethic instilled during her military training as a large part of how she formed her path from U.S. Air Force to business owner.
