This 5.4-mile out-and-back hike features excellent river level views of West Point as well as stunning views of the Hudson Valley from the top of Sugarloaf Hill. The summit is also a great spot to watch for hawks and native cacti that are often in bloom at this time of year.
This Transit to Trails hike is accessible from NYC via the Metro North Railroad. Simply hop on the 8:50am Poughkeepsie-bound train from Grand Central Station and get off at the Garrison station. Trains return to NYC every hour on the 55-minute mark.
