Balsam Lake Fire Tower
Join our outdoor leaders for our final Catskill Fire Tower hike of 2024, Balsam Lake Fire Tower!
This will be a 5.75-mile out-and-back hike on the densely forested Dry Brook Trail to the peak of Balsam Lake Mountain (3,727'). This hike has a steady incline that will reward you with awe-inspiring views at the top. We'll stop for lunch at the fire tower before heading back down.
Initiated in 2019 and organized by the DEC, the Catskills Fire Tower Challenge rewards hikers for visiting all six of the Catskill fire towers in one calendar year. Complete the challenge with us and get the commemorative patch! Check out the challenge rules here. Missed hiking a tower with us? Worry not! There will be multiple opportunities to hike each tower in 2024.
