Transit to Trails | Old Croton Aqueduct

Join our outdoor leader Joe Lipari on the second installment of our Transit to Trails series.

This month we'll travel to Yonkers where we will explore the Old Croton Aqueduct Trail. This 5.5-mile end-to-end hike follows a narrow, well-maintained greenway from Greystone to Irvington that offers a scenic on-foot tour of the many towns and villages scattered along the Hudson River.

This Transit to Trails hike is accessible from NYC via the Metro North Railroad. Simply hop on the 9:23am Poughkeepsie-bound train from Grand Central Station and get off at the Greystone station. Trains return to NYC every hour from Irvington on the 20-minute and 52-minute mark. Hikers who drive can take the train back to Greystone after the hike to return to their vehicle.
