Jamaica Bay Nature Walk

Join our Outdoor Leader Jesse M. on a peaceful nature walk around West Pond in the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge.

On this walk, you'll be able to admire the beauty of Jamaica Bay, one of the largest bird habitats in the northeastern US and a great place to observe migrating & local bird species. This outing is wheelchair accessible & public transit accessible.

  • DIFFICULTY: 🟪 Purple (easiest) ♿

    • Purple hikes are the easiest out of all the hikes we offer. They are always wheelchair accessible and on relatively flat, even terrain. Enjoy birdwatching as we explore this local & migratory bird habitat.

  • DISTANCE: 2 miles

  • DURATION: 1 - 2 hours

Another Summit organizes and leads outdoor adventure activities — such as walking, hiking, backpacking, and paddling — in the Hudson Valley Region of New York.

Another Summit’s outdoor adventures range from beginner to advanced difficulty levels and are led by certified outdoor leaders.

We welcome guardians of all ages and ability levels, including those with accessibility needs, and we work to facilitate access throughout the Hudson Valley and NYC area. Another Summit’s difficulty rating system considers multiple factors, including elevation, terrain, and frequency of rests.

  • 🟪 Purple (easiest) ♿

  • 🟦 Blue (easy)

  • 🟩 Green (moderate)

  • 🟨 Yellow (moderately strenuous)

  • 🟥 Red (strenuous)

  • ⬛ Black (very strenuous)
