2025 Transit Equity Day Walk

Celebrate Transit Equity Day a little early with Another Summit on a transit-accessible walk through the quaint village of Cold Spring, NY β€” one of the best portals to the outdoors that's accessible from NYC using public transit only, no car needed!

This outing highlights the importance of equitable access to transportation and nature for all communities, including guardians and their families.

Transit Equity: Explore, Learn, and Celebrate Access for All

Transit equity ensures that everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status, age, or physical ability, can access opportunities and essential resources. (In the NYC metropolitan area, over 50% of households do not own a car.)

For many, public transportation serves as a critical link to the outdoors. Transit Equity Day takes place on February 4th, Rosa Parks' birthday, in honor of her life and legacy and her pivotal role in the Montgomery bus boycott of 1955.

Guardians β€” military, veterans, and first responders β€” may face additional barriers (like socioeconomic or mobility challenges) that make accessible transit and nature spaces even more vital. This hike is part of our mission to raise awareness about transit equity while enjoying the proven mental health benefits of time spent outdoors.
