Snow Sports at Thunder Ridge

Join us for a free snow sports day on Thunder Ridge with your family — ski or snowboard (free equipment & lessons available too!)

ShredVets is a volunteer, veteran-run, veteran only snowsports peer group that offers small group outings at no-cost and for all levels.

Thunder Ridge has 22 trails, 3 chairlifts, and 4 magic carpets so there are options for slow, gentle slopes for beginners as well as advanced trails for experienced, adventurous skiers & snowboarders.

We hope you'll join our experience with ShredVets — feel free to bring your family, and if someone isn’t comfortable hitting the slopes, they can still come to the lodge to hang out (food available).

  • WHO: Military, veterans, first responders, and their immediate family (all ages welcome)

  • WHEN: Friday, March 7 @ 2 - 8 pm ET

  • WHERE: Thunder Ridge Ski Area, 137 Birch Hill Rd, Patterson, NY 12563

  • Note:

    • Participate on the hill or simply enjoy hanging out in the lodge with us!

    • No prior experience necessary! There will be instructors on site for requested lessons.

    • Equipment available if needed

ShredVets

ShredVets seek to get veterans together in small groups, outdoors for skiing or snowboarding, regardless of skill level. The cost of these sports can be prohibitive, and ShredVet's generous contributors donate most of the high cost items to make these activities more accessible.

The goal is to get vets enjoying the winter outdoors with peers — but we know that other good things can come from being out there together: camaraderie, sense of team, mutual support, learning a new skill, fitness, new friends, and more.

Guardian Homefront

Support & resources for military & first responder families

Guardian Homefront focuses on the family and provides experiences, education, and support for spouses, partners, and children of veterans, active duty military, and first responders.

YOU ARE NEVER ALONE

We are here to foster resilience, support health & wellness, and promote community to ensure that no family member feels alone in their journey.

  • Empathize | We understand the unique experience of the family environment around a guardian

  • Educate | Support & training about health & wellness — for yourself, your guardian, and your family

  • Engage | Fun experiences for quality time & building connection as couples, families, and a community

Each event is designed for a designated group: often the whole family, but we also know how valuable it is to make time for couples to connect and for individuals (partners, spouses, adult children) to nurture their own needs.

And for everything we organize, we cover the logistics & the costs. We hope you’ll join us soon!
